This 1967 Mercury Cougar is said to have been sold new inCalifornia and was acquired by 3GT in 2018, which it was refurbished andmodified by. The car is finished in triple black and powered by a 333ci Ford V8featuring forged internals and backed by a 4R70W four-speed automatictransmission with overdrive. Additional equipment includes Edelbrock aluminumcylinder heads, a Holley carburetor, an aluminum radiator, MSD electronicignition, Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, aftermarket wheels, air conditioning,Borla mufflers, and more.

The car was delivered from the factory in Sage Gold Poly, anda repaint in its current black is said to have been performed under previousownership in 2008. The body was disassembled and placed on a rotisserie, andrust repair was performed on the floors prior to reassembly. A functionalfiberglass scoop was also added and the hood refinished.

Gunmetal 17″ American Racing wheels with polished lips wearBFGoodrich g-Force Sport tires. New springs and other suspension componentswere fitted along with Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners.

The interior is trimmed in black vinyl with matching doorpanels and carpets. Amenities include air conditioning, a retro-look stereo, acenter console, and lap belts for all five passengers.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel mounted on a tilt column sitsahead of a factory 120-mph speedometer, a Bosch tachometer, and readouts forcoolant temperature and fuel level. Just over 80k miles are shown on thefive-digit odometer. Total chassis mileage is unknown.

The 333ci Ford V8 wasbuilt on a 302ci block and fitted with the following:

  • Forged crankshaft, connecting     rods, and pistons
  • Ford SVO hydraulic roller     camshaft
  • Edelbrock Performer 2.02″     aluminum cylinder heads with stainless steel valves
  • Comp Cams rockers, lifters,     springs, pushrods, and double-roller timing chain
  • Holley 650 double-pumper     carburetor with custom ram air box
  • Custom exhaust headers
  • Moroso Power Kickout oil     pan
  • MSD electronic ignition,     distributor, and plug wires
  • Black powder-coated fittings

The custom stainless steel exhaust system features dual BorlaS-Type mufflers. Power is sent through a Ford 4R70W AOD four-speed automatictransmission that was serviced in 2020 and on to a 3.90:1 differential. An oilchange and air conditioning recharge were performed in 2020.
